Who was the unsung Hero Irena Sendler?

Irena and her daughter in 1950.

A young Jewish friend, of mine, Eitan, sent me a very interesting story regarding a woman I had never heard about before, but should have. In fact we all should have heard of her because of heroic and life threatening actions during WWII. However, because the Nobel prize committee is more interested in kissing political ass's than actually giving these once (notice the PAST tense) prestigious awards to very deserving folks like Irena Sendler, most of us have never heard of her. Sadly, today her name is still virtually unknown to most of us.

I'm only gonna re-print the short article Eitan sent me, you'll understand my ire and complete disgust with the Nobel people as you finish this short synopsis of her heroic deeds. Here t'is.

Irena Sendler

There recently was a death of a 98 year-old lady named Irena. During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto, as a Plumbing/Sewer
specialist. She had an 'ulterior motive' ... She KNEW what the Nazi's plans were for the Jews, (being German.)

Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried and she carried in the back of her truck a burlap sack, (for larger kids..) She also had a dog in the back that she trained to
bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kids/infants noises.. During her time of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants.

She was caught, and the Nazi's broke both her legs, arms, tortured and beat her severely. Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived it and reunited the family. Most had been gassed. Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes or adopted.

Last year Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize ... She was not selected. Al Gore won, for his inaccurate slide show on Global Warming and this year the Nobel Peace Prize went to Barack Hussein Obama who, as we all know, has accomplished little or NOTHING.

Let us never forget!

63 years later, In MEMORIAM - Irena Sendler 2/15/1910- 5/12/2009

May God Bless you and cradle you in his arms.

I'm doing my small part by reprinting this brief artcle, and I hope that those of you who have a blog might consider doing the same. This brings an old adage to mind. "Nobody ever said it is a 'Just world', it's Just a world"

Drop me a comment and let me know how Y'all feel about this.

If'n Ya'll would like to read and learn more about Irena, just google Irena Sendler or Sendlerowa, there are plenty of article about her and her heroism.
