When a submarine fails to return from a mission...She and her crew are said to be on "Eternal Patrol". Borrowing that concept and sentiment...America recently lost one its most loved and watched comedians...Don Knotts. Don played the spindly, nervous "Deputy Barney Fife" on the Andy Griffith show in the 60's. This writer grew up watching and anticipating each new weekly episode. Deputy Fife patrolled the streets of "Mayberry" encountering and becoming involved in various situations which usually ended with his boss, Andy Griffith having to diplomatically (and gently) resolving the comedic mess that usually resulted from Deputy Fife's interference. We'll miss Y'all Barney......God Speed to yur "Eternal Patrol" of the streets of Mayberry.
