Amazing Grace...times 2......

It's a very sad day here in the Cookshack in upstate New York. Within the past two days, 2 fine Law Enforcement Officers were shot and killed in the line of duty. Two days ago, Officer Joseph Corr of the New Hartford, NY Police Department was shot and killed while attempting to apprehend robbery suspects who had just held up a jewelry store for over one million dollars in diamonds and jewelry. Officer Corr, age 30, a 6 year veteran of the New Hartford force, left behind a wife and a baby daughter who had just turned one year old two days prior to his being shot and killed. The suspect in Officer Corr's murder was later shot and killed in a shootout with US Marshals in Philadelphia, PA as they attempted to arrest him (how sad). My kind of swift justice. Today, in Big Flats, NY, near Elmira, NY, New York State Trooper Andrew Sperr, an 11 year veteran of the New York State Police responded to a bank robbery in progress call. While pursuing at least four suspects in the robbery, Trooper Sperr became involved in a shootout, managing to wound at least three of the suspects (gee...too bad...I mean too bad they were only wounded) before being shot and killed himself. The fourth suspect is still at large. If you've a mind to, please say a prayer for both downed Officers and their surviving families. The sound of Amazing Grace being played by a lonely piper on a high hill in the cemetary is a very sad sound indeed....Cookie
