How the ACLU helps us..... "SlumGullion"....Tastes Alot Better Than it Sounds....

Well Sir...now I be a know'n that there be some a ya out there that probably just caused a kink in their neck from doin a "double take" when they saw the above lead-in Title. Now, most a y'all know that I really dislikes them dispicable, butt boogers called the ACLU.....no secret there...so...I got t'thinkin...is there a positive side to all the shit they be a pullin...specially when it comes to Prayer, the Ten Commandments and such....well sir...there just might be.....

I was thinkin how because of all the Law Suits, "Restrainin Orders", threatened law suits and all the other legal shit they're a throwin at good folks...I think, and know... what has resulted is that many folks...not just Christian folks... have come t'gether t'fight them communist dog's dingleberries. In uther words...many of us have drawn closer cause we got a common enemy (issue)...and that is t'fight these litigious libidiots.....

I've seen...and heard of, many folks of differant denominashuns, religions and cultures...who have had enuff of these tort terds and are beginnin t'band t'gether. I also know some folks who were'nt exactly active in their church or religion, but who, over the years, have retained a common basic decency and belief system in their church or religion.....and have returned to such in an effort to be more pro-active aginst this common insideous enemy. So...in short...many of us have begun t'unite and come t'gether...puttin our various differances aside fer a spell.....and becomin frends and mates.....

This is what this Cookie see's as a positive result of the actions of the infamous ACLU.....they only be a makin us stronger, more caring and tolerant human beings......but...I guess that's just my way a thinkin....

Now...fer a real simple and quick meal t'make fer just you and yur family...or a large get t'gether...Slum-Gullion.....

Slum-Gullion

Now…I ain’t gonna really be a givin y’all any amounts cause its all gonna depend on who…and how many yur a gonna be servin…

Cook up some Macaroni…Elbow or Egg-noodle…it really don’t make no never-mind….

If’n ya got one…use a deep Cast Iron Dutch Oven fer the next part….if not…use a regular pot.

Usin a couple a tablespoons of Vegetable oil…lightly brown up a big amount of minced onion and minced Garlic (I like lots a Garlic).

When nicely golden brown…add a goodly amount of Hamburger and cook until no pink is showin. Remove all contents frum the pot with a slotted spoon. Drain off all the Hamburger grease.

Now…if’n ya like…cook up a bunch a chopped bacon in the same pot/oven. I like to use the bacon but that’s optional.

Now add a bunch of chopped green peppers, I large can of Diced Tomato’s, all the cooked hamburger/onion/garlic and the cooked noodles, and simmer fer an hour or so…..

Just afore yur ready t’serve…add 1 or 2 cups of Sour Cream if’n ya like…and simmer fer a few minutes more till all is hot….(I use the Sour Cream)

Serve with some real good Sour Dough or Garlic Bread…..Enjoy…..

Just a quick story......"The Sneeze"...

Well Sir...most a ya probably already seen this here afore but I liked it so I'm gonna put it up anyways...

THE SNEEZE
They walked in tandem, each of the ninety-two students filing into the already crowded auditorium With rich maroon gowns flowing and the traditional caps, they looked almost as grown up as they felt. Dads swallowed hard behind broad smiles, and Moms freely brushed away tears.

This class would not pray during the commencements----not by choice, but because of a recent court ruling prohibiting it. The principal and several students were careful to stay within the guidelines allowed by the ruling. They gave inspirational and challenging speeches, but no one mentioned divine guidance and no one asked for blessings on the graduates or their families.

The speeches were nice, but they were routine.....until the final speech received a standing ovation. A solitary student walked proudly to the microphone. He stood still and silent for just a moment, and then, it happened. All 92 students, every single one of them, suddenly SNEEZED!!!!

The student on stage simply looked at the audience and said, " GOD BLESS YOU, each and every one of you!"

And he walked off stage... The audience exploded into applause. The graduating class found a unique way to invoke God's blessing on their future with or without the court's approval. Isn't this a wonderful story? Pass it on to all your friends.........and GOD BLESS YOU!!!!

In God We Trust, United We Stand. This is a true story; happened at the University of Maryland. It's inspiring.

There ya go ACLU...stick that where the sun don't shine....and...my belief sytem complels me t'say this...although it's really stickin hard in m'throat.....God Bless you also....

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings as eagles; They shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

Isaiah 40:31

Flumoxxed! HUSHAMA.. what?... and "The State of Jefferson..."

Well Sir....believe it or not...this here is the fourth attempt to publish and post this here blog....the first attempt I actually did get the post published but it threw my entire blog outta whack....put the sidebar down to the bottom......I don't know if "Blogger" is screwed up or my "puter"....but I'm gonna give it one last try.....

I started the last post with how..."this is gonna be one of those fanciful and fun posts we all do every now and agin..." but after the pain in the ass its been so fer...I'll just leave that part out...

Now Sir...where was I...oh ya...ever since I been readin the blog "Born Again Redneck....in The State of Jefferson"....I been a wunderin just where in the hell is the State of Jefferson and whats that about. Well Sir....not wantin t'show m'ignorance...I just didn't bother t'ask Patrick Joubert(the blog author) fer an explanashun......and I know that this post already has Patrick's full attention cause a the State of Jefferson flag in the corner.....

Awhile back...as good fortune would have it....I was a prowlin the blogosphere lookin fer a real great recipee fer "Hoppin John" ...my favorite blackeye'd peas, meat and rice dish...and I found one that put even m'own recipee t'shame over at "Fanny & Vera's Camp Cookbook" . So..outta courtesy...I contacted Miss Fanny and asked her permission to re-publish her recipee on m'own blog...and she graciously allowed me too.....

Well Sir....me and Miss Fanny began to e-mail each other and her last e-mail read as follows..........

Dearest Cookie,

Glad you like it. Next time I whip up some red beans and dirty rice I'll make measurements so I can send you the recipe. You might like the Lobscouse and Hushamagrundy (Gold Rush era eats) as well--they make great camp fare. Like most things, I just toss a bit of this and that together. I need to measure and record the ingredients for my kids, so will pass on the recipes when written.

A quick lesson in the State of Jefferson: in the 1940's, a few counties in Southern Oregon and Northern California were a bit upset about the decomposing state of their roads. In protest, these counties seceded from the Union and called themselves the State of Jefferson. Their national flag was a field of green marked with two "x's" on a gold pan (sign of the double cross). Each Thursday, they would secede from the Union, set up "border check points" to inspect immigrants and collect fees to pass through the state. They promised to keep it up until the roads got fixed. The roads got fixed.

Read more about it at:
http://www.jeffersonstate.com/jeffersonstory.html or http://www2.jeffnet.org/Page.asp?NavID=1033

The idea revived in recent times, and exists as a "State of Mind". I listen to Jefferson Public Radio and buy paneling from Jefferson State Wood Products. These counties prefer not to be associated with the more industrial Southern California and Northern Oregon. We are located in the last true American wilderness and seek to preserve it and a lifestyle of living with the land. Resources-based light industry, tourism, hunting and fishing are the economic lifeblood of our communities. Historically we have been a bastion of free-thinkers and other independent, self-sufficient curmudgeons. You'd fit right in.

But enough for today's history lesson and soap-box session. You just keep on cookin'.

Best Regards to you and yours,
Miss Fanny

Ah Ha....now I knew WHERE the State of Jefferson was and WHAT it was all about.......but her e-mail raised anuther question....just what in the hell is HUSHAMAGRUNDY ? Sounded like sumthin I mighta heard said in an old Ma & Pa Kettle movie...or maybe old Gabby hisself might a mentioned. Now good Sir's and Madam's....havin been a sailin man in m'lifetime...and been around this here wurld a bit.....I'd heard a Lobscouse....even have a recipee fer it that I'll be a publishin somewhere down the line (betcha Miss Fanny's is better)....but never heard of Hushamawhatchacallit!

No big deal....I'll just "Google" it....Well Sir...guess what....fer the first time since I been usin Google all these years...it came back...NO HITS! Holy crap.....no hits found! Ain't never seen that afore on Google......

So...I've sent an e-mail off t'Miss Fanny requestin her recipee fer both her Lobscouse and her "Hushamagrundy"...and I'm sure she'll be a gettin back t'me as soon as she can...but in the meantime...lets have some fun...lets see if'n any a y'all out there ever heard of it...and if'n ya have...just what the hell is it and how d'ya cook it...........Cookie
