This touched me....

My very good friend Suzan Gertson from Eagle Lake, Texas sent me this today, and it touched me on a couple of levels.

First, having been raised in a rural country locale and working on farms and ranch's in my youth, it reminded me of something I also had to do at a young age, something along the lines of the movie "Old Yeller". Something that had a lasting imprint on my life.

It also reminded me of my faith, a faith I wish was as strong as this brave young man's, and that although I can't always see the reason for something happening, there is a reason. For those of you who have also wrestled with your faith and beliefs over the years as I did, I hope that the spiritual awakening that happened to Cookie also occurs in your lifetimes....God Bless.

See what a full Hip Replacement can do fer ya....

Well Sir, my wife spent a long day at the surgeon's office today, and the end result is that will have to have a full hip replacement surgery which is now scheduled fer March sometime, something she is looking forward to BTW. As of late she has been in excruciating pain, and so Cookie has been a dutiful hubby and taking care of the little misses by waitin on her hand and foot(BTW...I'm looking forward to her hip replacement as well).

Now Sir, I figure that after her hip replacement she should be able to dance just like this much older women, although, she won't be doin this with Cookie (I've still got the same old hips the lord gave me).

SALSSSAAA....

But First...somebody told me this was "Blagojevich's Fire Department"...

OK all you "Big Time" bloggers out there (not me, I'm just a little guy), I heard a news blurb on the news last evening that a "Very High and responsible source in Governor Paterson's Administration" had stated (under conditions of anonymity) that one of the reasons Caroline Kennedy withdrew is because she is havin an affair with New York Times Publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr.

Since I'm just a little guy with almost no time to verify or check this out, I'm "Leavin it all up to You"(like the song goes) to see what you can find out and learn. I checked several websites last evening and this morning and found nothing regarding this matter. Hmmmm....could it be, that is is NOT true, OR...dast I say it, because she's a Kennedy, or a Democrat, and the main stream media are not touching this one.

So, if this story is true, and I'm most certainly not sayin it is, I would like some other blogger with more time and resources available to him or her to verify and report....

How to lose yur marbles....and some Fair and Balanced reportage...

Well Sir...but first, a letter frum my old jarhead buddy Clint Griffin frum out San Diego way;

"Now here is a trip down memories lane. The lady with me in this photo is Edith Shain. Back on 14 Aug 1945, at the end off WW II a sailor grabbed hold of a young nurse in New York's Time Square and to her surprise planted a kiss on her that has been seen in that famous photo that I am sure you have seen several time over the years since that day.

She is now over 90 & can still dance up a storm. Just thought you might like to see this pix & to let you all see what a dull life I live out here.

Clint

A well done farewell from... of all folks, Time Mag.

Got this from "The Jawa Report" and its a well done piece. Use the link in the body of the story.

Photographing Bush

This is actually a really good farewell to Bush as told by the two TIME magazine photographers who covered him for eight years. A respectful, warm, MSM send-off for a decent and flawed man from two guys working for a publication of the opposing camp who spent a good deal of time around him during some no doubt stressful episodes.

May ye live in interesting times, Mr. Bush.

Well Sir...it seems that me old Marine buddy "The Chief" just loves t'bust Cookies balls...and...truth be known, I just love t'bust his back. Now Sir, as of late, The Chief has been callin me a "squid", a term often referrin to a Sailor, and a term which BTW, I'm proud to accept.

So, in the good natured spirit of Marine Corps-Navy ball-bustin, when I was in the Navy, we were taught that M.A.R.I.N.E stood fer My Ass Rides In Navy Equipment.

Just sayin.....

An upstate New York commercial about Hillary Clinton that never aired...

UPDATE: My buddy "Fish" frum down Kentucky way just informed me that it has been solved by the FAA exactly what brought the plane down into the Hudson River. Here be a photygraff of the suspects......

About 30 miles from where Cookie lives, in a township named New Hartford, NY, there is a leather apparel store known as "Forever Leather". Their commercials are aired regularly. This commercial however was found on "YouTube", and to my knowledge, it never aired, but it certainly reflects the way many upstate and central, New Yorkers feel about Hillary Clinton...

Y'all just might find it humorous and interesting....

Only time will tell....

As most of you probably did, I watched almost all of the inauguration ceremonies on this date. My wife stated, "this is indeed an historic date", to which I agreed, and further replied, "only time will tell if it will be a GREAT date, I pray so."

I did not vote for now President Obama, and, at least in principle, disagree with some of his policies, but while listening to his inaugural speech, which I indeed found most inspiring, I can only hope and pray that he can live up to his promise and potential.

I care not about the color of his skin. I have a mixed family of my own and my grandchildren are half black. I am a conservative Republican and believe in the traditional values of this country that I was raised and grew up with. From what I garnered from President Obama's speech, he has asked us to guard these older values well, and proceed forward with yet newer ideas and concepts to augment these values and traditions. I truly liked what I heard the man say.

Some of my fellow conservative blog-mates have expressed their doubts, fears and frustrations regarding the future of our great country, and I too have felt and experienced these feeling. But, I ask those of you who may want to continue fighting this political, and perhaps social change, to, for the sake of our great country, to get behind your(My) President and support him to the best of your ability.

Many of you recall that after G.W. Bush was elected, a large faction of left wing liberals who believed that Bush had stolen the election continued to fight and interfere with almost everything the man proposed and tried to do, smearing him at every chance. Something we labeled BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome). These attitudes and actions, especially those of most MSM, led to a very divided and angry nation.

I ask my fellow Republicans and conservatives, do not become like those who you and I despised so much for what they did. Yes, I may harbour resentments for what I believe they did to our nation, but for me to become like them, well, I care not to go down that road.

Give our new President a chance, support him, and disagree with him appropriately when/if the time comes, but please mates, for the sake of this great nation, do not become like those who maligned and harassed G.W. Bush for all those years, for you will be no better than those who you now presently despise so much, if you do.

May God Bless America!

"There's No One as Irish as Barack Obama"...

Now Sir, fer all a you folks out there of Irish decent, Y'all are havin a mighty proud day ya are....

...and here be a little Irish ditty fer ya, especially fer you Chief...

The Barack Obama Irish song!

Moneygall is a small village in County Offaly , Ireland . It has a
population of approximately 300 people, has a Roman Catholic church, five
shops, a post office, a national school, a police station and two pubs.

President-elect of the United States, Barack Obama's great-great-great
grandfather, Falmouth (later known as "FoulMouth" cause of his extensive usage of expletives) Kearney, emigrated from Moneygall to New York City
at the age of 19 in 1850 and eventually resettled in Tipton County , Indiana.

Kearney's father had been the village shoemaker, then a wealthy skilled
trade.

Contrast... "Breaking Good News"

UPDATE:

Breaking: Ramos And Compean Have Sentences Commuted
Just a one liner at the top of Fox's main news page.

Awesome news!

Bush didn't pardon the men for their crimes, but decided instead to commute their prison sentences because he believed they were excessive and that they had already suffered the loss of their jobs, freedom and reputations, a senior administration official said.

The action by the president, who believes the border agents received fair trials and that the verdicts were just, does not diminish the seriousness of their crimes, the official said.

Compean and Ramos, who have served about two years of their sentences, are expected to be released from prison within the next two months.

UPDATE by RS: What more can I add but hooray.

Thank You "W" fer this good act of compassion.....

Last night on "Extreme Makeover", I watched as a family that had virtually nothing received a new home. This family had three special children with various forms of autism such as Asbergers Syndrome and other problems. When they had to take their children to the doctors, on some occasions they would have to borrow a vehicle, and yet, they give of themselves generously and are active in their community, especially helping with Little League and special events for children like their own. They well deserved the new home, and car they received.

Then, I couldn't help but think of a video I had seen about a year ago. I found it on YouTube...here t'is....

During my years as a Detective Sergeant, I've met kids from families such as the one in the video above, usually after their little darlings had gotten caught breakin the law in some way (Not MY CHILD! Honey, call our Attorney! "Precious is in trouble again!). Always wanted to give them a little "Attitude Adjustment", nuthin serious mind ya, just a differant perspective on life, but could never do it without gettin caught...
